Baker Team

Firmly rooted in New York City, yet we collaborate with professionals in every major U.S. city to find exceptional spaces wherever our clients need to be. Over the years, new entrants to the US market have told us that we’re especially good at helping them navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of establishing and expanding their presence here.

In summary, we help our clients solve the following real estate challenges: selecting or outgrowing an office, retail site selection, and purchasing commercial condos, co-ops and fee simple assets.

David Baker

Executive Managing Director
david@sinvin.com

David’s specialty is boutique, comprehensive service for high-touch consumer and lifestyle brands. He’s helped establish and expand the US retail presence of prominent international brands such as Nespresso, Dries Van Noten, Margiela, A.P.C, Sandro, Maje,VEJA, Tom Dixon and Joseph Altuzarra. David works with investors and family offices to secure investment property in NYC. And he’s helped small- and mid-sized private companies assess and acquire commercial condos, live-work spaces, and co-ops to support their broader operational and strategic goals.

Though he’s practiced commercial real estate in New York City for over 20 years now, David was originally trained as a lawyer, graduating from UNC Chapel Hill School of Law and spent two years on the trading desk at Santander before deciding to pivot to commercial real estate. He blends analytical thinking with an impeccable eye for design to provide a truly unique skill set to his clients. He founded Baker New York as craft brokerage desiring to remain small and focused on working specifically with high profile lifestyle tenants and investors.

David has spent considerable time living abroad, in Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and Portugal. He speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish, and he’s optimistic about his French. Davis is a passionate supporter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America and a board member of the Design Trust for Public Space, supporting their efforts to make the City’s public spaces more beautiful, more functional, and more accessible to all New Yorkers.

Charlotte Sardet

Director
charlotte@sinvin.com

A native of Cannes, France, Charlotte was introduced to the world of commercial real estate while scouting retail spaces for the expansion of her photography gallery at the time into the New York City market. In the process, Charlotte noticed the dynamic and client-driven nature of the commercial real estate market, ultimately selling her gallery and quickly achieving her goal of becoming a full-time commercial real estate broker in 2013.

She started her career in a boutique firm that specializes in high-end retail leasing, learning the ins and outs of commercial real estate transactions. Charlotte then focused on working with investors and owners at the highest end of New York City's luxury residential market as part of the Daniela Kunen Team at Douglas Elliman.

In 2018, Charlotte returned to the commercial real estate world, joining former colleague David Baker at Baker New York. While her official title was Director of Client Services, the size and nature of the firm allowed Charlotte opportunities to contribute in countless ways, including active engagement across every stage of every transaction, ensuring outstanding client service and execution along the way. She kept an active eye on openings and opportunities in the market, ensuring consistent and efficient service and idea generation to a highly discerning client base.

Charlotte is now a Director and part of the Baker Team at Sinvin, where she continues to assist and advise clients on retail locations, office requirements and other commercial real estate needs. Some of the most recent transactions from David and Charlotte include a retail lease for Dries Van Noten in Los Angeles, an office lease for Jayaram Law in the Flatiron District in New York City, a retail lease for Altuzarra on Madison Avenue in New York City, a showroom lease for an innovative and contemporary furniture company in NoMad in New York City and a building purchase for a production company in Brooklyn.
